Long Weekends

Four days without work
Thanks to Washington's birthday
And going AWOL

Too bad it's cold out
I wanted to go camping
But I'm a big wuss

Leftover candy
Tempting me with its sweetness
In heart shaped cardboard

Haiku week is long
And not getting many laughs
Tomorrow I'm done

I laugh. Heck, I about wet my pants with each one. I also enjoy reading Robert's comments.

Add to the haikus
And the world is stranger
Don't talk to strangers

Brown grass under ice
I had to get the mail
I should have worn socks

Must go underground
Eat some tater-tots and fries
Then blow up the world

Nuclear winter
Really hot then awfully cold
Cockroaches still smile

Two morbid haikus
Three others are just plain weird
That’s five too many

People are born
On their birthdays
How ironic

That is not a haiku

Yeah, whatever. Told you hiakus make no sense. :P

All people are born
On the day called their birthday
Now that's ironic

There, your little poem now meets the traditional rules of haiku, being three unrhymed lines of 5, 7, and 5 syllables each.
What do they teach kids in school these days?
